Hubei Normal University conducts poverty alleviation and support work in Sinan County, Guizhou Province

Summary: Since 2013, Hubei Normal University's "Yilu Qianxing" volunteer service team has been carrying out teaching service activities in Sinan County, Guizhou Province. It is an outstanding team in the national universities' "Three Go to the Countryside" social practice activities and a Hubei Provincial Benyu Volunteer Service Team. More than 120 volunteers have been sent to provide assistance to nearly 2,000 students, establishing deep friendship with the local people and creating a positive social impact. To further strengthen the teaching point construction and comprehensively promote school-local cooperation, in line with the requirements of poverty alleviation, Hubei Normal University Vice President Lei Ruijin, Huangshi Social Sciences Federation Vice Chairman Wu Xiudian, and others recently went to Sinan County to carry out poverty alleviation and construction work, receiving strong support from the Sinan County Committee and County Government. Shaping Village, Shaojiaqiao Town, is the teaching point of the "Yilu Qianxing" volunteer team. To improve the teaching environment at the teaching point, Hubei Normal University, with the support of Huangshi Social Sciences Federation, Huangshi Shixing Pharmaceutical, and Huangshi Tianji Zhigu, donated 100,000 yuan worth of equipment for the teaching point construction, including "Banbantong" (a classroom multimedia system), computers, air conditioners, desks and chairs, school bags, and sports equipment. On August 15th, at the Shaping Village teaching point, Xu Ying, Standing Committee Member and Director of the Propaganda Department of the Sinan County Committee, presided over the donation ceremony. Lei Ruijin donated the equipment and materials to the village. The university's Youth League Committee and the county's Youth League Committee signed a long-term teaching and assistance agreement. At the event, 75 local left-behind children received care packages. To further strengthen school-local cooperation and improve the quality of poverty alleviation and construction work, both sides held a symposium. They conducted in-depth communication and project docking on issues such as the construction of teaching points in relocation resettlement sites, the Western Development Program and the dispatch of volunteer service teams, the establishment of teams to conduct online live streaming sales of local agricultural and sideline products, leveraging universities and the Huangshi Social Sciences Federation's think tank services to support local poverty alleviation industries, and mobilizing caring enterprises to support and assist left-behind children. To gain a deeper understanding of the local students' situation, in accordance with the school's "100 Teachers Visiting 100 Homes and 100 Students" practical education action plan, accompanied by Director Xu Ying, Vice President Lei Ruijin and his team visited five Hubei Normal University students in Dabachang Town, Sinan County, to understand their family situations and their learning and living conditions during the epidemic. They also had in-depth communication with their parents, encouraging the students to study diligently, enhance their abilities, serve the country, and participate in the construction of their hometowns after graduation, serving Guizhou's and the local economic and social development and education.
